Online Mail-In or Visit Our Southport Park Store: Two Easy Ways to Sell

One of the things we hear most from new customers is some version of: "I wasn't sure whether to send it in or just bring it down."

The honest answer is — both work, both pay the same, and the right choice depends almost entirely on how you like to do things. Here's how to decide.

The 30-second decision tree

Choose online (free Gold Kit) if any of these are true:

  • You don't live close to Southport
  • You're busy with work, kids, or both
  • You'd rather do it in pyjamas at the kitchen table than in a shopping centre
  • You have a lot of items and want a tidy itemised list
  • You'd like time to think privately before deciding

Choose in-person (Southport Park kiosk) if any of these are true:

  • You're already heading to Southport Park for groceries
  • You'd like to ask questions face-to-face
  • You only have one or two items and want it done in 20 minutes
  • You'd prefer to leave with a payment confirmation in hand the same day
  • You'd feel more comfortable meeting the people you're selling to

There's no wrong answer. Pricing is identical between the two channels.

How the online kit works (in 5 lines)

  1. Order a free Gold Kit — takes 60 seconds
  2. We post you a prepaid, fully-insured Express satchel + tamper-evident bag
  3. You drop it at any Australia Post outlet
  4. We email an offer within 48 hours of receiving it
  5. You accept (paid same day) or decline (returned free)

You never pay postage in either direction, and the parcel is insured throughout.

How the Southport Park visit works (in 5 lines)

  1. Drive to Southport Park Shopping Centre, park in the main carpark
  2. Walk past Coles — our kiosk is in the main concourse
  3. Hand your gold to our specialist for weighing & XRF testing (5–15 minutes)
  4. We give you a written offer with full breakdown
  5. Accept and we pay by PayID immediately, or take it home and think about it

No appointment needed for jewellery valuations. For gold loans or bullion above $5,000, we recommend booking the Bundall head office instead — call 0488 842 430.

What to bring if you're visiting in person

  • Your gold or silver items
  • A photo ID (driver licence or passport — required by law for any precious metals transaction)
  • Your bank details if you'd like instant PayID payment
  • Anything you're unsure about — we're happy to look at items and tell you whether they're worth selling

There's no charge for valuation, and you're not committed to selling anything just because we've valued it.

What's NOT different between the two channels

We're sometimes asked whether the in-person kiosk pays more (or less) than the online service. The answer is no — the percentage of spot we pay is identical. The decision should be about convenience, not price.

Same equipment (XRF analyser, certified scales). Same pricing methodology. Same 48-hour decision window. Same insurance. Same paperwork. Same legally required ID checks.

Common edge cases

"I have ID but it's expired." Bring a current ID. Australian law requires us to verify identity with current government-issued photo ID before any precious metals purchase.

"The items belonged to a deceased parent." That's fine in either channel — bring/send them in your name, with your ID. No probate paperwork is required for typical jewellery values.

"I want to keep some pieces and sell others." Easy. In-store, just point to which is which. Online, list the "keep" pieces on the form and we'll return them to you (free).

"I have items in multiple metals — gold, silver, plated stuff." Send everything together. We'll sort it, weigh the precious metals, and either return the rest or recycle it for you (your choice).

A small but useful tip

If you're nervous about the value, do both — visit the kiosk first with one or two pieces to see how the process works and confirm the offer feels fair, then send the bulk of your collection through online once you're comfortable.

Most customers do the opposite — start online, get a feel for our pricing, then visit in person when they want to do something a bit bigger or more complex (like a gold loan).

Either way, you can order a free Gold Kit online right now, or visit us in person at Southport Park Shopping Centre, opposite Coles, any day during shopping centre hours.
