Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 May 2026

EasyGold Online (“EasyGold,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use easygold.com.au, why we collect it, how we store it, and the choices you have. We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Who we are

EasyGold Online is operated by an Australian-registered business (ABN 43 213 317 654), licensed as a QLD Second-hand Dealer and Pawnbroker (Licence #4938375). For privacy enquiries, email service@easygold.com.au or call 0488 842 430.

2. Information we collect

From you, when you order a kit or sign up

  • Name, email address, phone number, postal address.
  • Government-issued photo identification — required by law before we can buy precious metals from you.
  • Bank account or PayID details, used solely to pay you for accepted items.
  • Item descriptions, photos, weights and karat assessments relating to the gold or silver you send us.

Automatically, when you visit the site

  • Standard server log data: IP address, browser user-agent, pages requested, timestamps, referring URL.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 5 below.

3. How we use your information

  • To process your gold/silver sale and pay you.
  • To meet our legal obligations under the Second-hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 2003 (Qld), including ID verification and record-keeping.
  • To send you transactional communications (welcome email, kit tracking, quotes, reminders, payment confirmations) by email and, if you provide a mobile number, SMS.
  • To improve the website and understand which pages are useful to visitors (only if you opt in to analytics).
  • To measure marketing campaigns and show relevant ads (only if you opt in to marketing cookies).

4. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers we need to run the service:

  • Clerk — sign-in and identity (privacy).
  • Microsoft 365 (Outlook) — outbound email.
  • Brevo — outbound transactional SMS.
  • Google Cloud (Object Storage) — secure storage of your ID documents and item photos.
  • Replit — application hosting.
  • Law-enforcement agencies, where required by law or to report stolen goods.

5. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in three categories. The first is always on; the other two only run if you opt in via the cookie banner.

Strictly necessary (always on)

  • Clerk session cookies — keep you signed in securely.
  • easygold_consent_v1 (localStorage) — remembers your cookie choice so we don’t ask again.

Analytics (opt-in)

  • Google Tag Manager / Google Ads (_ga, _gid, _gcl_au and similar) — measures site usage. Held in Google Consent Mode v2 “denied” until you accept analytics.

Marketing (opt-in)

  • Google Ads conversion tracking — measures which ad campaigns lead to kit orders.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel (_fbp, fr) — measures Facebook/Instagram ad performance and lets us show ads to people who’ve visited the site. The Meta Pixel script is not loaded at all unless you grant marketing consent.

You can change your choice at any time:

6. How long we keep it

ID documents and transaction records are retained for the period required by Queensland pawnbroking law (currently a minimum of one year after the transaction). Marketing analytics data is retained per Google’s and Meta’s standard retention windows. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time, subject to those legal record-keeping obligations.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). ID documents and item photos are stored in private object storage with signed, short-lived URLs. Bank details are never displayed back in full. We restrict staff access to personal data to those who need it.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your account and data (subject to Section 6).
  • Withdraw cookie consent at any time using the link above.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Email service@easygold.com.au for any of the above.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page; the “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
